Pumpkin and Spice isn’t the only thing you can put in Doggie Treats!

Try using sweet potato instead of pumpkin.  Maybe some applesauce instead of peanut butter.  You can even add crumbled bacon for a meaty flavor and even oats for a different texture!

Just experiment with your Doggie Treats

and see what you can create!

The “base” recipe is below, just waiting for your own ingredients.  Just remember to use soft vegetables that can be easily pureed, as well as fruits.  Even Banana!  My dogs love Bananas!

      Steps

      1
      Done

Prepare a large cookie sheet by either spraying with non-stick cooking spray, or lining with parchment paper. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

      2
      Done

In a large bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well until the mixture resembles dough. If it's still too wet to handle, add a little more flour and knead into the dough until firm. If it's too dry, add more pumpkin puree. Turn out onto a pastry sheet or floured surface such as your counter top.

      3
      Done

Knead your dough until the surface is smooth. Roll out to about a 1/2" inch thickness, then press with any shape cookie cutters, I used a bone shape! Place onto your prepared cookie sheet, and don't worry about how close together they are because they don't rise or flatten when they bake. Sprinkle the tops with pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon, or you can just leave them plain.

      4
      Done

Bake uncovered for 40 minutes. Remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely before giving to your fur babies! My Dachshunds get extra excited when they see they are getting these treats instead of a plain old Milkbone LOL!
